When and where do we meet?

Mighty Trees STEAM Explorers meets on Thursday mornings at 10 am and class meetings last between 1.5-2 hours. Families will always have the option to stay for lunch, fellowship, and park playtime after. Our first class meeting will be September 12, 2024 and our last will be May 1, 2025. There will be breaks for the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, and Easter holidays.

Classes are held in local parks in and around Clayton, NC; locations will change, usually weekly, for exposure and excitement about different environments. We will also have 2 field trips per quarter (only 1 trip during Quarter 2) that relate to the theme we are studying at the time.

What DOES a class look like?

Classes will have a theme or topic that will usually last 2 or 3 weeks. We will start our time with a devotion relating to the science topic we will be studying and then we will begin working on our lessons and activities for the day. Following devotions, we will focus on science and math, with technology and engineering being intertwined when necessary. Following that, we will take a short snack break before finishing our time with an art project relating to our studies (these teaching sessions may be swapped on days when an art project may need time to dry before heading home). Since we will be meeting at a park for our lessons, families are always welcome and encouraged to bring lunch and to stay and play after for fellowship!
